I am the Lady of the Rosary. I come to ask the consecration of the world to My Immaculate Heart. When My Immaculate Heart triumphs, the world will have peace! — Our Blessed Mother of Fátima
First Saturday Rosary Devotion to Immaculate Heart of Mary every month from 10:00 a.m.
Reflection by Fr. Marvin Deutsch, M.M. at 11 a.m.
Blessed Pope John Paul II presented to us the unique role that our Blessed Virgin Mary plays in God’s eternal plan of mercy. In his encyclical letter Rich in Mercy, he explains that our Blessed Mother is the one who has the deepest understanding of God’s mercy. Called in a special way to share her Son’s mission to reveal His love, she continues to proclaim His mercy “from generation to generation” (9).
For St. Faustina, Mary was a constant source of God’s Mercy as mother, guardian, teacher, and intercessor. From Mary, she received a special gift of purity, strength in suffering, and countless lessons on the spiritual life. She writes, “Mary is my Instructress, who is ever teaching me how to live for God” (Diary, 620). “Before every Holy Communion, I earnestly ask the Mother of God to help me prepare my soul for the coming of her Son” (Diary, 1114).
Between the months of May and October of 1917, our Blessed Mother appeared to three shepherd children near Fátima, Portugal, giving them a message for the world which has since become known as the “Peace Plan from Heaven.” She warned men that if they did not amend their lives, God would be forced to punish them by means of wars and other sufferings.
Our Lord makes it very clear to St. Faustina that this need to proclaim His message of mercy is urgent, or “Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My mercy.” (Diary, 300)
Let each of us accept the invitation of our Blessed Mother of Fátima. Pray! Pray! Pray and offer sacrifice to our Lord in reparation for the sins by which He is offended and for conversion of sinners.
